Make a Difference: Family Haven

We all want to make a positive impact. The desire to help others is in our very nature.

But if you are new to a city or constantly trying to get that work-life balance in check, helping people can kind of fall to the wayside.

How are you supposed to know if the local charity you find is legit? What if you really don’t have much spare time to volunteer?

We get you.

As a young professional it can be hard to know how you can make a difference in your community.

Which is why we have done the legwork for you.

Each month we will choose a charity partner to help sponsor at our Network Millennial events.

So without further adieu- October 2018 partner of the month is Family Haven, a local charity helping women and children escape abusive living situations.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month so it only seems fitting that we partner with Family Haven to help support their efforts in the Forsyth County area.

For victims of domestic violence, Family Haven offers 24-hour emergency services and a 21 bed living shelter for those that have to escape a violent situation with no place to go.

It takes $65 a night to help shelter one single woman who needs emergency assistance. It is our goal at Network Millennial to help sponsor one woman for one night.

To quote Smash Mouth "we could all use a little change"...

So we are asking our attendees to bring their spare change to make a big change in the life of a victim of domestic violence.

On October 3rd we ask that you bring any spare coins you might have lying around in your car, your desk, or your dresser at home.

Your extra coinage can help us all make a big impact in the life of one of our own peers!

Family Haven has been making a difference in the Forsyth County area for almost 30 years and has helped save hundreds, if not thousands, of lives.

It is our great honor and pleasure to help support them in their cause to provide a safe place for women and children to escape to as a result of domestic violence.
